Purple Hearts produce a pink flower during the summer but the real attention grabber are the purple leaves. The official name of this plant is tradescantia pallida which is a type of spiderwort. It is native to the Gulf Coast region of eastern Mexico and is poisonous to pets and people so be careful where you plant this! However, it is highly effective at removing Volatile Organic Compounds from indoor air which are toxic.
